I thank the Government of India for approving the proposal of installing the statue of the great revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju on his 120th birth anniversary at the premises of Parliament in New Delhi.
I also thank all the MPs, other dignitaries and prominent personalities who also put untiring efforts for the installation of the statue of Shri Sitarama Raju at Parliament premises.
I feel that the freedom fighter is an inspiration for many of us for rising against the atrocities meted out to the poor and under privileged, particularly Tribals.
Alluri Sitarama Raju was born on July 4, 1898. He is widely credited for leading the ‘Rampa revolt’ against British colonisation, mobilising tribals in East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts in the early 20th century.
Attached here is a copy of the letter written by me to Government of India requesting to install the statue of the legendary freedom fighter.
