I had the pleasure of meeting Shri Prakash KaratJi, Senior Marxist Leader at the National Headquarters of CPI (M) in New Delhi on the pleasant afternoon of 2nd September, 2017. Though it was a courtesy call I had the wonderful opportunity of listening to his views on contemporary social and political issues. I shared my experiences of being a Politician and a Parliamentarian with him.
I must say here, I was very impressed by the simplicity and austerity of this stalwart communist leader. Shri Prakash KaratJi was the General Secretary of CPI (M) for 10 years and he is currently the member of Polit Bureau. Shri KaratJi joined CPI (M) in 1970 and he also worked as an aide to great communist leader A.K. Gopalan, leader of the CPI (M) Parliamentary groups for two years. Since his students days itself Mr. Prakash Karat has been actively involved in programs/agitations/movements taken up by CPI (M). He has played a great role in building the organisation and strengthening of his party in India.
